Hyperliquid Token Rises Following Trump’s Remarks on US Regulatory Pathway

Hyperliquid's native token, HYPE, surged over 20% in 24 hours. This followed statements from United States President Donald Trump, who indicated regulators were developing a compliant framework for the decentralized trading platform's availability to American users.

The token traded at approximately $62 before Trump's remarks. It then rose by as much as 16% to a 24-hour peak of $72.28. It later stabilized around $70, marking an approximate 20% increase over the preceding day. The 24-hour trading volume reached $1.4 billion.

Separately, shares of Hyperliquid Strategies, a Nasdaq-listed company trading under the ticker PURR, closed at $9.39 on Wednesday. This represented a 30.4% increase. The company focuses on HYPE treasury and has stated its independence from and lack of affiliation with Hyperliquid, despite sharing a similar name.

Approximately four hours prior to Trump's announcement, an individual reportedly invested around $65,000 in 719 PURR call options. These had an $8 strike price and were set to expire in mid-October. These contracts, purchased at roughly $0.90 each, were valued at approximately $2.45 by market close, resulting in an unrealized gain of about $111,000.

Delayed market data from the Options Price Reporting Authority confirmed unusually high activity in the contract. 2,575 October $8 calls were traded during the session, significantly exceeding the 67 contracts in open interest beforehand.
