Kraken Integrates with SoFi Exchange Network, Lists SoFiUSD
Payward, the parent company of Kraken, and SoFi Technologies have announced a significant collaboration. This partnership will integrate Kraken into the SoFi Exchange Network and add SoFi's stablecoin to the Kraken platform, streamlining cryptocurrency transactions and expanding digital asset offerings for both companies.
The agreement aims to enhance liquidity, improve trade pricing for SoFi customers, and allow for round-the-clock processing of U.S. dollar transactions for Kraken's institutional clients.
Integration into SoFi Exchange Network and Kraken Prime
Under the agreement, Payward will join the SoFi Exchange Network (SEN), enabling Kraken's institutional clients to process and settle U.S. dollar transactions 24/7, even outside standard banking hours. This integration is expected to significantly improve the efficiency of financial operations.
SoFi will also leverage Kraken Prime to enhance liquidity for cryptocurrency trades executed through the SoFi application. Kraken Prime offers comprehensive services, including trade execution and custody, to institutional clients and trading platforms. The companies anticipate that this could lead to improved trade pricing for SoFi customers, with qualified custody services potentially being introduced later.
SoFiUSD Listing and Broader Context
As a key part of this partnership, Kraken will list SoFi's stablecoin, SoFiUSD, making it accessible to retail, professional, and institutional clients. This move expands the reach and utility of SoFiUSD across a broader user base.
This collaboration follows Payward's exploration of a potential Kraken public offering in March 2025 and SoFi's re-entry into the crypto market in June. SoFi had previously rolled out trading for up to 30 crypto assets and introduced SoFiUSD in December, positioning it for trading, payments, and business transfers. Payward has also been expanding its regulated financial infrastructure, with Kraken Financial gaining access to Federal Reserve payment systems and a tokenized-equities partnership with Nasdaq.
