Ethereum and Bitcoin ETFs See Outflows After Inflow Streaks, Japan Eyes Spot Bitcoin ETFs
US-listed spot Ethereum exchange-traded funds (ETFs) experienced $70.62 million in net outflows on Friday, ending a five-day inflow streak. Despite this, Ethereum funds recorded a weekly net inflow of $103.9 million, extending their weekly inflow streak to three consecutive weeks. Total net inflows for July have reached $337.74 million.
Bitcoin ETFs also saw a similar trend, with $240.08 million in net outflows on Friday, ending a seven-day inflow streak. However, Bitcoin ETFs also extended their net inflow streak to three consecutive weeks, accumulating $103.90 million during the week ending Friday and $233.96 million so far in July.
Japan's Potential Spot Bitcoin ETF Market
Following recent regulatory reforms in Japan, crypto management platform XWIN projects a developed Japanese spot Bitcoin ETF market could reach approximately $18.4 billion. This figure represents about 0.13% of Japan's $14.6 trillion in household financial assets. XWIN's analysis considers demand from existing crypto holders, new retail investors, and institutional allocators.
The platform highlighted the US market as a precedent, noting that spot Bitcoin ETFs, excluding Grayscale's GBTC, have accumulated approximately 1 million Bitcoin. This illustrates the role of regulated ETF products in bridging traditional finance with digital assets. XWIN stated that a Japanese spot Bitcoin ETF would provide investors with access to Bitcoin exposure through established brokerage and custody systems, characterizing the $18.4 billion projection as an achievable upper-end market scenario.
